Helene Larsson Pousette

Helene Larsson Pousette is senior guest curator at the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm, focusing on the relationship between contemporary art performance, history and memory, and the role of museum in the contemporary society. Her previous position was as Acting Head at the Events Unit at the Swedish Institute. Between 2009 and 2012 she was the Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of Sweden in Serbia, working with public diplomacy and building long-term relationships and exchange within contemporary culture and arts. In Serbia Helene initiated several projects such as Museum Development in Serbia, the residence program Create in Residence, and founded the ETC group that later developed into the Creative Mentorship program. For several years she was curator at the Swedish Travelling Exhibitions and at the Swedish History Museum, creating interdisciplinary exhibitions combining culture heritage and contemporary art. Helene also held a position at the board of the Swedish ICOM, the ICEE – International Council of Exhibition Exchange and The Swedish Arts Grants Committee. Currently she serves at the Advisory Board of Creative Mentorship program and represents Sweden in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). She is a frequent lecturer, author of numerous articles, and is the editor of the publication This is not a Report – Cultural Exchange Sweden/Serbia 2009-2012 and co-editor of The Museum as Forum and Actor (2010). She holds a BA in Ethnology, and her practice focuses on contemporary collecting of difficult issues in society.
