ANGELA VETTESE

Angela Vettese is an art critic and scholar. She was the President of the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation in Venice and the Director of the Graduate Programme in Visual Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the IUAV University in Venice. She has taught at numerous fine arts in the  academies of Milano, Bergamo, Venezia and Bocconi University in Milan. From 2016, she is the director of Arte Fiera in Bologna.

From 1995 to 2004, she was a curator at the Fondazione Antonio Ratti in Como and from 2005 to 2009, director of the Galleria Civica in Modena. In 2009 she chaired the international jury for the 53rd Venice Biennale of Visual Arts.

She has written several books such as  Capire l’arte contemporanea (Torino, 1996/2006/2013), Artisti si diventa Roma, 1998), Si fa con tutto (Roma Bari 2010 e 2012), Arte contemporanea tra mercato e nuovi linguaggi (Bologna 2012), Art as a Thinking Process (with Mara Ambrozic, Frankfurt 2013).

In 2009, she was the President of the jury in the Venice Biennale. Since 1986, she has been writing for the financial newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore’s cultural magazine La Domenica. She has been chief of the tourism and cultural cabinet for the city of Venice from 2013 to 2014.
